If you've lost your sparkle or you simply want some extra va-va-voom this Valentine's Day then why not head down to your local curry house for a romantic candlelit vindaloo? No I'm not joking and no I haven't gone mad! I've recently been doing some research on the amazing health boosting properties of spices and have discovered that they can in fact be powerful aphrodisiacs. Curries could therefore hold the key to a healthy love life because they warm up the body and stimulate the senses. Here are a few examples...Chillies
Release feel-good endorphins to the brain
Saffron
Boosts male libido
Ginger
Is known as the Viagra of the East - the less said about that the better or this will never get through your spam filters!
Garlic
Helps with circulation and prevents the hardening of arteries
Lentils
Nutrient powerhouses containing zinc, protein, calcium, magnesium, B Vitamins and manganese. Why not try a dhansak?
Unfortunately curries often have a bad reputation but if you choose wisely and go easy on the poppadoms and nan breads then you can enjoy a healthy, mood boosting meal. By the way my favourite restaurant in the whole world has to be Ma Goa in Putney.
Have a Happy valentine's Day,
Charlotte x
